The association aims towards spreading education for the uplift and emancipation of women of our society. It also aims at assisting the college authority to provide exposure to modern teaching methodologies and encourage positive thinking and foster development in various fields of life. It also provides a platform for interaction among past and present students and their families, former teaching and non-teaching staff and their families in order to provide continuity between an inherited glorious past and a prospective future. Besides, the society also manages and receives endowments, donations and properties from time to time.

The Association is privileged to have Smt Aloka Mitra, Chairperson of Women's' Interlink Foundation, Kolkata, as an Honorary Member. Smt. Mitra's presence would greatly inspire the Association in its work towards empowerment of women.
It has donated Rs.10,000/- to Gokhale Memorial Girls' College during closing the ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration held on 6th May, 2014 at Rotary Sadan, Kolkata. The association desired that the amount be spent on infrastructural development of the Institution.

A Tribute to Prof. Jasodhara Bagchi
The first time I met Jasodharadi was at a meeting
of a feminist organization in the courtyard of the
house of the Karlekars and Nalini Das, which was a
homely affair. It is not what she had said that I
remember now but the song she had sung with
full-throated ease: "Aami Chitrangada, aami
rajendranandini; nahi devi, nahi samanya naari (I am
Chitrangada, heir to the King; neither goddess nor
just a woman)". Her rendering gave the song new
meaning and resonance for me. Since then, this has
happened again and again over the last thirty or so
years whenever I heard her sing familiar or
unfamiliar songs - like when she sang "aamar mukti
aaloy aaloy, ei aakashe" (My freedom lies in this
sky, this light) at a street-corner meeting held to
protest against the incarceration of Dr. Binayak Sen....

Activities of the Alumni
INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH MR. BARUN CHANDA
An interactive session with renowned advertising and film veteran, Mr. Barun Chanda, was organised by the Alumni Association of GMGC, on the 16th of March 2017. As an ex professor associated with the department, Mr. Chanda expressed his desire to renew his ties with the college and engage with the students in the upcoming academic sessions.
BOOK LAUNCH ON WORLD CSR DAY
The U.S Consul General, Mr. Craig Hall, on the occasion of the World CSR Day formally released the Book, 'Corporate Social Responsibility in India: Cases and Developments after the legal mandate' in a program titled 'CSR: American and Indian Approaches' at the Lincoln Room, American Center on February 18, 2017.
COUNSELLING SESSION BY PROF. DR. NILANJANA SANYAL
A counselling session was conducted by eminent psychologist and President, Gokhale Memorial Girls' College Alumni Association Prof. Dr. Nilanjana Sanyal, a GMGC Alumni Association initiative.
Remedial classes conducted for the students of the Psychology department from second and third year by Alumni Association members Smt. Rudrani Chatterjee (Clinical Psychologist, Institute of Psychiatry SSKM Hospital, Kolkata) and Smt. Aparajita Chowdhury (Clinical Psychologist) in the session 2016-17
The Gokhale Memorial Girls' College Alumni Association was initiated with this concept of happiness at the core of their philosophy. And, it is in pursuit of this happiness that the debut annual celebration of Mohona 2016 was organised on September 23, 2016 between 2:00 - 7:00 pm at the Sarala Memorial Hall in the College premises.
HEALTH CAMP ON 18th NOVEMBER 2016
The Gokhale Memorial Girls' College Alumni Association organised a Health Camp for the faculty and students of the college on 18th of November, which is the death anniversary of the founding Principal of the college, Dr. S E Rani Ghosh. The objective of the camp was to provide a thorough routine check up to detect minor health conditions or the possibility of any major conditions.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION MEETING
SEMINAR ON CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
A seminar on Corporate Social Responsibility titled, "The CSR Business Case" was arranged by the Association. It was held in the College premise on 6th July, 2015 at 6 pm. Dr. Lars Isaksson, Professor in Global Business Strategy at Bond University, Australia delivered his lecture which was followed by an interactive session with him.
