As you venture out into the world of higher education in liberal arts and sciences, let me introduce you to Gokhale Memorial Girls' College, a premier educational institution exclusively for women.
Located in the heart of the Kolkata city, the College offers a stimulating ambience for learning and caters to students from all over the city and its suburbs, irrespective of their socio-economic status. The College is affiliated to the University of Calcutta and aided by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
While the college provides a sound holistic education for its students, it continues to instill good moral values in them, empowering them to cope with the challenges of modern society and to become mature and responsible citizens. Since its inception in 1938, Gokhale Memorial Girls' College has forged ahead in the academic sphere with both its teachers and its students remaining true to the guiding motto, "What shall I do with that which does not give me immortality?"
A One-day Seminar and Inter-college Power Point Presentation Competition was organized by the Counselling Cell of Gokhale Memorial Girls' College, Kolkata to observe the 'World Suicide Prevention Day' on 9th September, 2022.
The theme of the presentation was - "Creating hope through action"
The Seminar focused on the objective of raising awareness among the
youngsters and adults respectively, under the chief patronage of the
Principal, Dr. Atashi Karpha.
Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav was celebrated in Gokhale Memorial Girls' College on 15th August, 2022 marking the 76th Independence Day of India. The National Flag was hosted by the Principal with a group rendition of "Dhana Dhanya Pushpe Bhora" in the College ground. Year long observance of 150 years of Sri Aurobindo commenced on the same day with Dr. Subham Dutta's lecture on "Sri Aurobindo: Nationalsm and Consciousness". Students presented songs dances and recitation in Bengali and Hindi on the theme of Independence, The programme ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
Gokhale Memorial Girls' College congratulates the students for winning the district level Youth Parliament Competition. Their performance encompassed an array of socially relevant issues including mental health, women's reservation in public sectors, paternity leave. Getting the first position at the district level, they have added laurels to the glorious crown of this age-old institution.

The electronic version of Miscellany 2022 was officially launched on September 27 th , 2022 in the college premises by the Principal Dr. Atashi Karpha and the celebrity vocalist Sri Satinath Mukhopadhyay. This is the second time that the college published an E-version. The first E-magazine was launched virtually over Zoom platform on September 11 th , 2021. The last Hard copy Miscellany was the 2019 edition launched in January 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the 2020 edition of Miscellany could not be pursued.
The YPC team added another feather in the cap of GMGC by securing the third position in the YPC divisional level, which was held at Krishnanagar, Nadia on November 19, 2022. Read more
