University Level Certificate Course on "Social Service - Blood Donor Motivation"

Gokhale Memorial Girls' College organized a 16 hours University Level Certificate Course on "Social Service - Blood Donor Motivation" in Collaboration with Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, West Bengal for the students of the College.

Members of Blood Donation Committee of the College were entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the course.

The course commenced on & from 07/01/2017 and concluded with written test and viva-voce examination on 04/02/2017. Successful candidates have been awarded with Certificates. View Gallery

A special lecture on the occasion of 'The World AIDS Day' will be held on 3rd December, 2016 in Room No. LT2 and LT3 at 12.30 p.m. All the college students including NSS volunteers should attend the seminar on that day.

An Awareness Lecture on Voluntary Blood Donation was held on 5th November, 2016 at 1.30 p.m. Mr. Debabrata Roy, from Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, West Bengal delivered the lecture.

The English Department of the College will be hosting a Special Lecture on HOW TO READ A POEM by Dr. Subir Dhar, Professor, Department of English, Rabindra Bharati University at 2.00 p.m. on 22/09/16 in LT2 & LT3. Dr. Dhar is also Director, School of Languages and Culture and Director, Tagore-Gandhi Centre in Rabindra Bharati University.

Blood Donation Camp 2015

A Blood Donation Camp was organized on 18th Nov.2015 in association with West Bengal Voluntary Blood Donors Association and M.R.Bangur Blood Bank on the occasion of the Death Anniversary of the Founder-Principal of Gokhale Memorial Girls' College, Dr. S.E. Rani Ghosh. All together sixty two students and staffs of the college donated blood at the camp.

Blood Donation Camp

The Blood Donation Camp of 2014 was conducted by the staff and students on 18th November 2014 on the occasion of the death anniversary of the founder principal Dr. S.E. Rani Ghosh with great enthusiasm.

E-waste Collection Drive

Gokhale Memorial Girls' College will organize one E-WASTE COLLECTION DRIVE AND AWARENESS GENERATION PROGRAMME in collaboration with TOXICS LINK on 7th April 2014 at LT1 & LT2 at 2p.m.

All the students, teachers and college staff are requested to participate in this event and bring some E-waste to drop with an authorized recycler who will also partner with TOXICS LINK in this event.


Department of Economics organized a session

The Department of Economics organized a session of paper presentation by the students of the department on 25th April 2014. The presentation ended with a question answer session. Department of History has arranged a special Lecture by Dr. Madhuparna Roychowdhury, Assistant Professor of the Department of Ancient Indian History of and Culture, University of Calcutta, on 4 April 2014 at 12 noon. The title of the Lecture is Reading History from the Mahabharata

The Students of the Departments of English and Hindi will participate in an audio visual presentation on the topic 'Fiction into Films', on 2nd April at 11.00 a.m. in Room No. LT2.
 


Lecture by Dr. Madhuparna Roychowdhury

Department of History has arranged a special Lecture by Dr. Madhuparna Roychowdhury, Assistant Professor of the Department of Ancient Indian History of and Culture, University of Calcutta, on 4 April 2014 at 12 noon. The title of the Lecture is "Reading History from the Mahabharata".
Third Year Students of the Department, namely Sutithi Banerjee and Ria Dey will present two short papers on "Chandraketugarh Excavations" and "Mogolmari Excavations", after the Special Lecture.


A seminar on 'Women and Public Space: A Political Enquiry'

A seminar on 'Women and Public Space: A Political Enquiry' was organized by the Deprtment of Political Science on 27th March 2014 at Sarala Ray Memorial Hall. Dr. Rajasri Basu of Rabindra Bharati University spoke on 'Women and Festivals-Erasing the Public-Private Divide.' Dr. Kuntal Mukhopadhyay, Director Sanglap Kolkata, along with some colleagues presented a demonstrative lecture on 'নাট্য পাঠে নারী'. The Seminar was chaired by Prof. Apurbo Mukhopadhyay of Netaji Institute for Asian Studies. Bisari Day and Suchandra Tat, two students of the Department presented papers at the Seminar and were appreciated by the honourable guests.


Debate organised by Department of Political Science'

The Department of Political Science, Gokhale Memorial Girls' College organized a debate on 18th March, 2014. The motion was 'In the opinion of the House Benevolent Despotism is the answer to India's Evils.' The first and second year students of the department participated in it. Smt. Bitto Rani and Smt. Debarati Das,two former students of the College were invited to be the judge.
