EVENT SUMMARY

On September 9th, the Counselling Cell of Gokhale Memorial Girls' College, Kolkata organized a One Day Seminar and Inter-college Powerpoint presentation Competition to observe World Suicide Prevention Day which focused on the objective of raising awareness among the youngsters and adults respectively, under the chief patronage of the college principal, Dr. Atashi Karpha. The session was open to all and approximately 100 people were in attendance.


The event began at 12 pm in the presence of Dr. Rima Mukherji, Sr. Consultant Psychiatrist and Founder Director of Crystal Minds, as the Speaker for the Expert Talk Session, who was welcomed and felicitated by the Principal Madam of Gokhale Memorial Girls' College. Then the event proceeded by Principal Madam's welcome address and honourable speaker's expert talk with a powerpoint presentation on Suicide Prevention. After the expert talk session, during the open forum the attendees shared their experiences, asked questions, shared their thoughts and frankly interacted with the Speaker.


Then the inter- college powerpoint presentation competition began, students from different colleges in Kolkata participated and presented their knowledge with awareness on the theme - 'Creating Hope Through Action.'

It was indeed a proud moment to have the Honourable Chief Guest Ananya Chakraborti, Honourable Chairperson of West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Madam was welcomed felicitated by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC) Coordinator, Dr. Sanchita Sen. Honourable Ananya Chakraborti Madam highlighted many aspects of life and enlightened us with various experiences she had which served as inspiration to many.

Then the result was declared by the speaker, Dr. Rima Mukherji Madam and the prizes along with certificates were distributed to the position holders as well as all the participants. The total event was wrapped up with the vote of thanks delivered by the IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Sanchita Sen Madam.

The discussions yielded a huge range of ideas, suggestions for future marking activities. The presentations provided valuable resources for learning and awareness. The response was positive and served as an encouragement for the commencement and organization of various related programs in the near future.
