Spoken English Course

Gokhale Memorial Girls' College introduced a Spoken English Course for interested students in collaboration with School of Languages, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture (Golpark) in 2022. Classes commenced from September, 2022, under the able facilitation of Smt. Sanjana Srivastava from Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture.

Objectives of the Course

  1. To orient students who have studied English as a second or third language at the school level to acquire communicative competence with considerable knowledge of grammar and language structure.

  2. To enable the enrolled students to grasp the language well so as to participate in academic and social situations where the usage of English is mandatory.

  3. To develop the four language skills i.e., Reading, listening, Speaking and writing.

  4. To train the students to apply their acquired knowledge in practical life and gain confidence to enhance their communicative patterns.

Profile of the Instructor

Sanjana Srivastava is an English Language teacher at Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, School of Languages. She has passed M. A (English) from the University of Calcutta and B. Ed. from Adamas University, along with a certificate course in Linguistics from Jadavpur University. She has qualified CTET and WBTET. She has creative and academic publications in peer-reviewed journals, magazines and anthologies across states and borders. She has presented research papers in various international and national webinars and seminars.

Fee Structure : Rs. 900 for one semester
Duration : One semester (34 classes)

Outcome of the Course

  1. Students will have more awareness of the grammatical structure of the English language.

  2. Students will speak with accuracy, fluency and confidence.

  3. Students will develop in all four areas i.e., Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.

  4. Students will have a better and more developed vocabulary, better speed and improved reading ability along with writing skills.
