Gokhale Memorial Girls' College a reputed college was initially
established as an extension of Gokhale Memorial Girls' School
(1920) by Sarala Ray, a pioneer among Bengali women to aspire
for higher education, a great social reformer and educationist.
The College begins its journey from an Intermediate College to a 3 Year Degree College under the guidance of Dr. S.E. Rani Ghosh, a true educationist, a brilliant academician and an ardent disciple of Sarala Ray.
The Hindi department in our college was established in 1938. The I.A Course was started in 1938. To promote Hindi B. A. General Course was started in our college in 1957 and later Hindi Honors was introduced in the year 2002.
