Gokhale Memorial Girls' College a reputed college was initially
established as an extension of Gokhale Memorial Girls' School
(1920) by Sarala Ray, a pioneer among Bengali women to aspire
for higher education, a great social reformer and educationist.
The College begins its journey from an Intermediate College to a
3 Year Degree College under the guidance of Dr. S.E. Rani Ghosh,
a true educationist, a brilliant academician and an ardent
disciple of Sarala Ray.
The Hindi department in our college was established in 1938. The
I.A Course was started in 1938. To promote Hindi B. A. General
Course was started in our college in 1957 and later Hindi Honors
was introduced in the year 2002.
The vision of Hindi department is to cultivate writing,
communication and expression skills in Hindi among students. To
make them more and more interested in Hindi literature and
inculcate human values in them through literature and rational
thinking.
The mission of Hindi department is to promote its vision into
action plans through:
Behavior and discipline
Values are promoted.
Motivating students in various fields of employment by pursuing
Hindi literature
Maintain balance between studies and co-curricular activities.
Students may find employment in the field of teaching, faculty in schools, Colleges, Universities, in Banks as Hindi Rajbhasha Adhikari, Translator and also in Railways and other government sectors. Students may find jobs in the field of Advertising, Media, Journalism and Publishing House as an anchor, reporter, news reader and editor.
